Cheesy tuna casserole

Thursday, December 18, 2008

My sister and I were talking about casseroles the other day. I love them. You just throw them together, put them in the oven and then dinner is ready!

What you’ll need:

1 pkg egg noodles
2 Tbl vegetable oil
¼ c chopped onion
¼ c chopped green bell pepper
¼ c chopped red bell pepper
1 can cream of cheddar cheese soup
1 can tuna, drained
¼ c milk
¼ tsp salt
Pepper to taste
¼ c Italian seasoned bread crumbs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook noodles according to package directions, drain. SautĂ© onion and peppers in oil until tender. Mix the soup, tuna, milk and salt and pepper into the vegetables and cook a few minutes over medium low heat. Mix the noodles into that. Pour the combined mixture into a casserole pan. Sprinkle bread crumbs over the top and bake for 20 - 30 minutes or until it’s golden brown. Feeds 6.

Cost:
egg noodles - $1.89
onion - $1.12
bell pepper - $0.90
cream of cheddar cheese soup - $1.09
tuna - $0.89
milk - $3.99/gallon
bread crumbs - $1.12
Total - $8.30
