Chocolate chip oatmeal cookies

I absolutely adore these cookies!

What you’ll need:

Base recipe:
2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 c sugar
1 c brown sugar
1 c butter, softened
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs

And add:
1 c oats (regular NOT instant and uncooked)
1 bag chocolate chips

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Mix together flour, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl beat together the butter, sugars and vanilla until creamy. Stir eggs into sugar mixture making sure they are mixed in well. Gradually mix flour mixture into sugar mixture stirring well. Mix in oats and chocolate chips. Using a tablespoon, place scoops of cookie dough about an inch apart on a cookie sheet. Bake for about 9 minutes. Every oven is different so watch closely and remove them early if they are getting too brown or leave them in a little longer if they aren’t brown enough. Just use your best judgment. Makes about 2 dozen.

Variations: Leave the oatmeal out and just have chocolate chip cookies. Stir in 1 c of nuts (any variety). Stir in 1 c of raisins. Use butterscotch chips instead of chocolate chips. Use 2 c candy pieces instead of chocolate chips. This is a very versatile recipe, you can make many different cookie combinations with the base recipe.
