What you’ll need:

½ c butter, softened*
1 c sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/3 c flour
¾ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. In a separate bowl mix together dry ingredients. Slowly mix the sugar mixture and flour mixture together. Mix well. Drop by spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet about an inch apart. Bake @ 350 for 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown. Makes about 20 cookies.

*In most of my recipes margarine can be substituted for butter. In this recipe it can NOT. It needs to be real butter for the cookies to turn out right.

butter - $1.75/pound
sugar - $1.99/4 lb bag
eggs - $1.09/ dozen
vanilla - $2.25
flour - $2.12/5 pound bag
baking powder - $2.38
Total - $1.18
